JudykinsP Sewing and Crafts

Where sewing is always fun!

Always use a new needle when you start a new project.

Always press the seam you just sewed flat to set your seams.

When you find a fabric that you just love get a least 3 yards. Find matching fabric to coordinate with your loved fabric and get 3 yards of that too!

When shopping for fabric go to the discount section remember this was once full price.

Stock up on white and black thread whenever it is on sale.

For your Birthday and Holidays ask for gift certificates to your favorite fabric store.

When looking for buttons, go to yard sales or flea markets. You can get them by the jar for just a few dollars.

If you are looking for unique fabric, such as chalkboard fabric you can find it on line.

If you have an embroidery machine you can embroider bugs on screening material and sew them over holes, or just to your screens.  Be sure to make two so you have one for the inside and outside of your screens.

There is no need to back tack at the beginning or the end of a seam if another seam is going to cross it.

Take a sewing class at least twice a year.  It will get you out of the house and you will always learn a new trick from someone, either the instructor or the person you are sitting next to.

Learn to clean your machine.  This will keep your machine in good working order between regular shop maintenance.  Some sewing places will give you a class on how to clean your machine.
